Also, as a team you can take over a higher work- load with less hassle for the client’s art director. Once you achieve success, it is great if you can deliver more. In our line of work this is easier to achieve than in, let’s say, computing, but one should always keep an eye out for useful collaboration opportunities with colleagues, especially if they have different areas of expertise. And this is certainly the case with you two. How did your interests develop so differently and do you not have to be a jack of all trades? Klaus: In the past it was more like that. When I started out in the 90s you had to drive to the city library to find a picture whether it was a certain car or medieval weapon. It meant only people with great memories for these things thrived in the business. If you had not seen and memorised an object you could not draw it or earn money this way. Today with Google image search this obstacle was removed. I was always interested in science fiction worlds full of weird and complex details. I had to find out that drawing the real world was also important. I had some catching up to do there. Brainstorming fantasy worlds remains my forte. Artistic painting, while fun, proves harder than it seems. Luisa: It just happens natu I guess. You cannot be eq good at everything. It depends a lot on wha are exposed to and aspects you admire in artists’ work.
