Klaus: Art is something to learn and fun! Maybe art is something that should not rely on talent alone. Design follows certain unalterable principles that can be applied in different media and situations and that is what we concentrate on. We mention a lot of dos and don’ts, but the focus is on form language, composition and individual feedback. Luisa: We show that it takes time and it is alright to make mistakes, especially during the workshop. A good painting can take days even weeks to produce, that is not possible during a workshop. It is more about getting to know the medium, trying out the graphic tablet and getting immediate help when you are stuck or have questions. It is also okay and at times necessary to use reference, nobody requires you to know everything off the top of your head. By taking reference the work immediately gets better and it also enhances your visual library. We generally strive to give a broad overview of the concept art and illustration field.
