ent +++ SAE Sydney staff mixing with the best +++ Advert Ace Radovan gets SAE big break +++ SAE Sydney ’Pax‘ a P n For the first time in its history huge gaming event PAXExpowasthisyearheldoutsidetheUnitedStates with organisers opting to stage it in Melbourne. And as SAE Sydney is at the forefront of the gaming sector it was determined to use the showpiece as a shop window for its pioneering work. SAE Sydney gaming lecturer,Adam Ruch was joined by a team of volunteers from SAE Melbourne at the PAXAus event. Held at the Melbourne Showground from July 19-21 the gaming spectacular welcomed around 40,000 visitors. The festival was so popular because it represented one of, if not the biggest, gaming-focused events ever to be held in Australia to date. Attractions included panel discussions across a number of theatres and The Big Top, an enormous hall kitted out with dozens of consoles that allowed like-minded strangers and friends to do battle. True to its name, the Expo Hall was full of promo- tional stands including a popular SAE stand and enor- mous League of Legends video game stage. Around a quarter of the expo floor space was dedica-ted to “indie teams” - small teams of local developers who displayed their wares alongside giants such as Nintendo and Ubisoft. It also represented a perfect vehicle for SAE students to finish and present their own projects at PAXAus. For Adam, the fact indie developers were able to share the platform in this way was the biggest benefit of the event as it gave them unrivaled exposure. n INDEX AE team in their booth at PAXAus. ʻPaxʼ nch at Event Photo:SAESydney
