Every lecture is dedicated to and involves students listening to a different artist and their use of surround sound in productions. This is followed by a presentation of the history of the artist or the group and how their productions have evolved. Each lecture comes to an end with an extended discussion on the specific surround production, the techniques used and the sound achieved. The series has examined Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, The Beatles’s Love, The Who’s Tommy, Who’s Next and Quad- rophenia, Queen’s A Night At The Opera and Jean Michel Jarre’s Oxygene and Aero. The man planning and delivering the lectures which will continue next year is sound engineer and music journalist George Tzamaloukas, head lecturer of the Audio Engineering Department at SAE Athens. n The dark side of the moon in Class A.
