322 Athens +++ Dimitri Takes Students to Another Dimension +++ CampusNews SAE & SAE ALUMNI NEWS // EUROPEAN NEWS Dimitri An SAE Athens is a Greek pioneer when it comes to teaching 3D Animation. And as part of its cutting-edge provision 3D and Interactive Animation students were treated to a special Stop-Motion Animation workshop from acclaimed movie model maker Dimitri Kaliviotis. Dimitri is well known for his work in the American movie industry having created concept models, special effects miniatures and props for feature films. Films benefiting from his handiwork include Secret Window, 300, Taking Lives and Mummy III. SAE Athens is proud to call him a member of the team with Dimitri a lecturer on our 3D and Interactive Animation Diploma course. As part of this role he teaches observational drawing,characterdevelopment,story-boarding, sculpture and stop-motion animation. His workshop allowed students to develop their skills in sculpting, build their own tools and construct functional puppet characters. Students also got to grips with techniques to create the illusion of movement and used lead- ing software Dragonframe, which has been used in high profile productions including Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie by Disney Studios. n
