Seminars, an exhibition, networking, and a party; the event at the SAE Institute in Berlin is open to industry partners, students and all creative media enthusiasts
This year’s SAE Alumni Convention is expected to welcome around 3,000 visitors to benefit from a rich programme with over 70 talks about games, film, audio, cross-media, and Web-related topics. Additionally, over 60 exhibitors will present more than 90 brands, including Aeria Games, AIDA Cruises, Apple, Ubisoft, Blue Byte, SPL, beyerdynamic, DJI, JVC, RME, Steinberg and Yamaha. Exhibitors will show off their new products or services and inform about career options.
As the world’s largest training institute for media professionals, SAE Institute offers educational programmes in the fields of Audio Production, Music Business, Film, Games, Web, and cross-media. Through the SAE Alumni Convention, SAE Institute annually invites everyone to a creative exchange in order to strengthen relations between its students, alumni, staff, industry partners and media companies. Students and alumni of numerous SAE campuses (54 locations) from around the world travel to this convention. In addition to the tradefair area, all participants can attend seminars and workshops hosted by international industry giants. Last year, more than 2,750 media professionals attended the SAE Alumni Convention.
Talks and workshops will be opened on 22 October with the panel “Finding who we are looking for – Challenges for media companies to find the right alumni”, where employers speak about the demands on future employees in the media industry. Moderated by A.C. Coppens (The Marketing Catalysts), Vera Termühlen (Head of Human Resources, Wooga), Sven Pannicke (Managing Director, Rise | fx), Laura Moreno Salinas (Head of Human Resources & Office, Native Instruments GmbH), Verena Adam von Strenge (Director Human Resources, plista GmbH) and Mehdi Benkirane (Industry & Public Relations Manager, SAE Institute Europe) will debate the gap between requirement profiles employers and the actual skills of young professionals.
This year will also feature contributions by music producer Joy Deb (Deb Music, including producer of the Euro Vision Song Contest winning song 2015 “Heroes” by Måns Zelmerlöw) and Marek Pompetzki (Numarek Music, including producer of the German no. 1 single “Astronaut” from Sido feat. Andreas Bourani). The writer and director Christian Pasquariello (Syrreal Entertainment) will report about the production of the sci-fi thriller “Sum1” that was filmed in Berlin and which German cinemas will release in 2016. App developers Sebastian Stricker and Bernhard Kowatsch will present the world’s first app against global hunger, “ShareTheMeal”.
The first day of the event will end with the legendary SAE Alumni Convention party (Live bands and DJ acts) and the SAE Alumni Awards show where former SAE students from around the world will be awarded the coveted award for their extraordinary achievements at the Astra Kulturhaus.
The exhibition is free for all visitors. Whilst members of media.net berlinbrandenburg eV, students and alumni of SAE Institute receive tickets at reduced prices, a seminar ticket for the two-day SAE Alumni Convention (including participation in the award ceremony and the party) costs 120 Euros.
