The workshop was put together in conjunction with New Zealand Rockshop, the country’s largest retailer of musical instruments and equip- ment as well as the local Ableton retailer. Steve (who has a PhD in Quantum Physics from a past lifetime!) showed the audience through the processes he uses to build sounds for his compositions, using the techniques he acquired during seven years working at leading dance music sound design companies Sample Magic and Sounds/To/Sample. The workshop was well received by students, alumni and public alike. n INDEX Steve Young a.k.a. HEDFLUX (Broken Robot Recordings) Photo:SAEAuckland
