es at SAE Vienna +++ Vienna cleans up at the SAE Alumni and Junior Awards +++ The year of the animation workshop + mation workshop INDEX Alex Eibler and Michael Shantzis n In the course of this year's Pixel Conference in Vienna we were once again able to offer our students a very special treat. Following on from last's visit from Simon Yuen of Blizzard this year we were honoured by an important visitor from Pixar. Michael Shantzis gave our students an insight into daily production life at Pixar in his capacity as Production and Software Engineer at the legendary animation studio. Using his experience in productions such as Ratatouille and Toy Story he explained how Pixar works and how such large scale projects even are even possible. It was of course a unique opportunity for our students to hear anecdotes about production first hand. They were also able to recognise that many of the challenges they face over the course of their educa- tion are also issues at large studios such as Pixar. Afterwards our students also had the opportunity to ask Michael some personal questions and they received valuable tips about gaining entry to the industry. ➤ Photo:SAEVienna
