060 SAE & SAE Alumni NEWS // European News Workshops n In March, Marco Antonio Spaventi, lecturer of the Electronic Music Production course in Amsterdam, gave an introduction to Ableton Live for electronic music en- thusiasts. On Friday, July 8, famous Dutch turntabalist DJ DNS presented a demonstration of his skills and techniques to intrigued audiophiles and students. Aside from imple- menting digital equipment in his set, he also explained and performed beat-juggling and scratching techniques. n Workshops In Maart heeft Antonio Spavento, leraar van de Electro- nic Music Production Certificate in Amsterdam, een se- minar in Ableton Live gegeven aan ieder geïnteresseer- de in elektronisch muziek productie. Op Vrijdag 8 Juli heeft gerenommeerd Nederlands DJ DNS een demonstratie gegeven over het gebruik van moderne controllers en digitaal media aan geïnteres- seerde “audiophiles” en studenten. Naast het implemen- teren van digitaal apparatuur liet hij nog het één en ander aan beat-juggle en scratch technieken zien. Events n SAE Institute and Qantm College were present at the AV Manifestatie in Houten. The AV Manifestatie is a fair for students who study audio, film, or graphics. Amongst others representatives were Adobe, Amptec, Canon, Fofic, The Future Store, JVC, Lacie, Panasonic, Roland Systems Group, Sennheiser, Shure, Vocas, and Yama- ha. SAE Institute Rotterdam was selected to present its courses during this year’s annual course fair at Shell Outpost,The Hague which is exclusively directed at Shell employees and their families. n Evenementen SAE Instituut en Quantum waren aanwezig tijdens het AV Manifestatie in Houten op 18 en 19 Mei 2010. Het AV Manifestatie is een uitstekende beurs voor studenten van de audio, film en grafische afdelingen van het SAE. Op deze manifestatie waren o.a. Adobe, Amptec, Canon, Fofic, The Future Store, JVC, Lacie, Panasonic, Roland Systems Group, Sennheiser, Shure, Vocas, en Yamaha aanwezig. SAE Rotterdam was geselecteerd om aanwezig te zijn tijdens het jaarlijkse carrier beurs van Shell Outpost Den Haag welke exclusief gericht is Shell medewerkers en familie. New School Rules – Hip Hop & R&B Conference 2011 n SAE Institute Rotterdam began cooperation on this project in 2010 with workshops by US producers Drum- ma Boy and Bangladesh. In April, a 3-day long confer- ence for Hip Hop and R&B was held at Maassilo in Rot- terdam. Our contribution throughout the event included filming, editing and reporting through social media on location, by combined Rotterdam and Amsterdam film and audio students under the supervision of Rotterdam staff (all in all comprising of 22 crew members). We had 6 cameras present, a full blown on-location production office with editing stations and an iMac cluster for Final Cut in order to speed up processing. In addition to that, our Manager, Andreas Oszkiel, gave two workshops at the event (Vocal Recording and Production for Hip Hop & R&B / Mixing and Production Techniques for Hip Hop & R&B) as well as moderating a panel of German music industry experts. n New Skool Rules – Hip Hop & R&B Conference 2011 SAE Instituut Rotterdam is in 2010 een samenwerking aangegaan met US producers “Drumma Boy” en Ban- gladesh voor het geven van workshops. In April werd een 3 daags conference georganiseerd voor Hip Hop en R&B in het Maas-silo te Rotterdam. Onze samenwerking bestond uit het filmen, editen en rapporteren middels sociale netwerken op locatie door studenten vanAmster- dam en Rotterdam onder begeleiding van SAE Rotter- dam medewerkers. In totaal waren 22 leden werkzaam gedurende dit evenement. Wij hadden 6 camera’s op locatie, een volledig uitgeruste “mobiele” productie ruim- te met editing stations en een iMac cluster om Final Cut Pro bewerkingen te versnellen. Bovendien heeft onze manager Andreas Oszkiel gedurende dit evenement twee workshops gegeven (Vocaal opname technieken voor Hip Hop en R&B / Mixing en productie technieken voor Hip Hop en R&B) als mede onderdeel zijnde van een panel Duitse muziek industrie experts. 48HFP Competition Breda n SAE Institute Rotterdam’s film students and their head lecturer Matt Ogden, participated in the 48 Hour Film Project in Breda, NL. Cast and crew worked tirelessly to complete pre- production, shooting and post-production of their film “Antigone” in, as the name of the competition suggests, only 48 hours! The pre- miere took place at Pathé Breda at the Inter- national Film Festival, Breda. n 48HFP Competitie Breda SAE Rotterdam film studenten, onder begelei- ding van film coördinator Matt Ogden, hebben mee gedaan aan een 48-Hour Film Project in Breda, NL. Medewerkers en acteurs hebben hard gewerkt aan pre-productie, draaien en post productie van de film “Antigone”, zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, binnen 48 uur! De première vond plaats in een Pathé bioscoop te Breda op Zondag 27 Maart tijdens het In- ternationale Film Festival in Breda.
