358 Nashville +++ Legendary producer VornDick Fi CampusNews SAE & SAE ALUMNI NEWS // INTERNATIONAL NEWS Burning ambition! n SAE Nashville has launched a pioneering new collaboration which sees SAE’s audio technolo- gy and music business programme students work in tandem to develop projects for up-and-coming Nashville recording artists. Overseeing the audio recording and production duties for the project is composer, musician, producer and audio engineer Alan Shacklock. And in exclusive interview he revealed the first performers to benefit from the SAE collaboration are emerging Nashville country duo Striking Matches. Alan, who co-chairs SAE Nashville’s audio technology programme, explained: “Their songs have been featured on episodes of the ABC TV series Nashville, they have performed at the Opry (renowned Nashville music venue) 10 times, and they have opened for such established stars as Kip Moore and Eden’s Edge. “Our students are in the right place at the right time to be working with such a talented new band.” Alan is no stranger to working on major studio recordings and was the writer and producer of The Mexican, a 1972 release by the UK band Babe Ruth – regarded by international music critics and histo- rians as being the defining anthem of breakdance / hip hop culture. ➤
