196 Berlin +++ SAE Berlin Students Meet The Professionals +++ SAE Be CampusNews SAE & SAE ALUMNI NEWS // EUROPEAN NEWS SAE Berlin students are audio adventurers n Students at SAE Berlin are always willing to hit the road to get a glimpse behind the scenes of the industries they hope to conquer. Andaudiodepartmentstudents’portsofcallincluded Berlin music software company Ableton where they received an insight into the company’s new software and hardware developments. They were also treated to a ʻhands onʼ demonstra- tion of Ableton’s new Push controller ʻpushʼ and its Live 9 music software. Students also got to visit Berlin loudspeaker manu- facturerAdamAudio where project manager Michael Nets gave them a tour of the production site. They also had a question and answer session with chief executive Klaus Heinz. Next on the calendar was a trip to game developers’ conference Quo Vadis at Berlin’s Café Moscow. Students used the international shop window to showcase their own offerings. And the students’ strategy game Heroes of Ellend particularly attracted the interest of developers such as Crytek who saw its potential for the mobile ­market. Buoyed by such encouraging feedback, the team is working on a PC prototype of the game. Students from the game course also went with ­lecturer Uwe Heinelt on a field trip to the city’s­ Natural History Museum. The students were tasked with designing creatures, starting with light drawing with the creation of a host Film department students ing a look behind the sce facilities.
