SAE Institute and Qantm College Australia were highly commended by the newly formed Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) in its first ever audit report. The colleges were commended for their active input into the curricula from industry experts through its Program Advisory Committees. The Academic Board was also praised for its contributions to academic quality improvement. Other commenda- tions included the global opportunities it offers students and staff; the successful development of a suite of integrated policies applicable across both SAE and Qantm courses; a comprehensive range of unit guides; and a commitment to staff development, especially in making the transition from vocational education and training to higher education course deliv- ery. The result was an incredible outcome that reflects the dedication and hard work of all staff – a big thank you to all! n SAE Institute und Qantm College Australien wurden im ersten Prü- fungsreport der neu gegründeten Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency dafür, dass sie Beratungskomitees bestehend aus Industrie-Experten in die Gestaltung ihrer Lehrpläne einbinden sehr ge- lobt. Außerdem wurde das akademische Gremium für seinen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der akademischen Qualität gewürdigt. Lob gab es auch für die globalen Möglichkeiten, die es Studenten und Staff bietet; die erfolg- reiche Entwicklung eines Regelwerks, das in SAE- und Qantm-Kursen Anwendung findet; eine umfassende Auswahl an Lektionsleitfäden; das Engagement bei der Mitarbeiterentwicklung, besonders beim Übergang vom Lehren des beruflichen Handwerkszeugs hin zur Vortragsweise im Bereich Höherer Bildung. Folge war ein tolles Resultat, das die Hingabe und die harte Arbeit des gesamten Staffs widerspiegelt – Ein großer Dank an alle! n Qantm College Australia is elated to announce its first place win as Tertiary Educator of the Year at the 2011 inaugural MCV Pacific Awards. The award goes to the tertiary college or university that is ‘the most respected by the industry’, and the ‘most prolific, highest quality place to learn about making games in 2011’. Qantm was up against some tough competition in its category with five of Australia’s top colleges be- ing nominated. We are absolutely thrilled with the result and would like to congratulate all the winners and nominees of last year’s awards. Last year acclaimed artists from around the world converged to perform at the festival’s new abode in Ballina, culminating in a vibrant and unforgettable two-day event. The festival grounds were overflowing with an indulgence of dancing bodies moving to the contagious grooves, a pal- ate of multicultural food stalls to sample, plenty of positive vibes, and sunshine. Staff and students from SAE Byron Bay organised and undertook integral audio / stage components of the event and got some invaluable experience and a flavour for live sound in a real-life and dynamic environment. The response was unanimously positive and we look forward to collaborating again with the Reggaefest crew on this year’s festival! n Reggaefest, Australiens größtes Reggae-Fes- tival, findet jedes Jahr an der Nordküste von NSW statt. Entstanden ist es aus der bunt blühen- den Musikzene Byron Bays. Letztes Jahr fanden sich gefeierte Künstler aus der ganzen Welt ein, um auf der neuen Festival-Location in Ballina aufzu- treten, was das 2-Tages-Event unvergesslich mach- te. Auf dem Festivalgelände gab es jede Menge Menschen, die sich zu den ansteckenden Grooves bewegten, eine riesen Auswahl an internationalem Essen sowie viel positive Vibes und Sonnenschein. Staff und Studenten der SAE Byron Bay organisierten und übernahmen auf dem Event wesentliche Aufgaben im Bereich Ton und Bühne. Ihr Lohn waren unbezahlbare Erfahrungen und der Geschmack echten Live- Sounds in hektischer Umgebung. Die Reaktionen waren alle positiv und wir freuen uns auf eine weitere Zusammenarbeit mit der Reggaefest-Crew in 2012! n A+ for SAE & Qantm Australia.
