SAE & SAE Alumni NEWS // Intercontinental News 075 Cape Town Amman The Jewel in Africa’s Crown n SAE Cape Town is firmly cementing itself as the jewel in Africa’s crown of private higher education providers. David Maclean and his team are currently preparing their application to South Africa’s Council on Higher Education seeking accreditation to offer the bachelor programs. As a further arrow in Cape Town’s quiver Maclean has been awarded his M.A. from Middlesex University and SAE Online and received accolades for his thesis entitled ‘The Influence of the GUI on the Sonic Outcome of Contemporary Audio Engineering and Production’. The campus continues to host the very popular SAE-Master-Class series. The recent season has had a filmmaking focus that has hosted Dexter Davis, Chris Roland, Simon Rice, Barry Donnelly, and Ian Miller. Cape Town’s Mastering Suite. Winning T-Shirt Design The audio department has performed further re- finements to its mastering suite and has added Apogee convertors, and a Studer A810 master recorder. All departments submitted entries for a T-Shirt competition. David Mac- lean und sein Team bereiten momentan eine Bewer- bung an den Südafrikanischen Rat für Höhere Bil- dung vor, um in Zukunft Bachelor-Studiengänge durchführen zu dürfen.Als weiteresAss befindet sich nun Macleans Master of Arts (verliehen durch die Middlesex University und SAE Online) in Kapstadts Ärmel. Für seine These „Der Einfluss des GUI auf das klangliche Ergebnis in zeitgenössischer Tontechnik und Produktion“ erhielt er viel Lob. Auf dem Campus finden immer wieder sehr beliebte Masterclasses statt. Der Fokus lag im vergangenen halben Jahr mit den Dozenten Dexter Davis, Chris Roland, Simon Rice, Barry Donnelly und Ian Miller auf dem Thema Film. Als weitere Verbesserung baute die Audio-Abteilung in der Mastering Suite Apogee-Wandler und eine Studer A810 Bandmaschine ein. Alle Fachbereiche reichten Vorschläge für einen T-Shirt-Wettbewerb ein. SAE Amman holds its first “SAE’s Got Talent“ Show n On Saturday 9th July, for the first time, SAE Institute Amman held a talent contest “SAE’s Got Talent“ and what a contest it was! We had bands, guitarists, a break-dancers, a ‘popper’ and a juggling act! Our judges panel included, Lee from Play FM, Shauna from VIVA magazine and Tony from Tempo Dance Academy. The competition was fierce as the top prize was money, donated by Cairo Amman Bank (JD 500, JD350 and JD 150 respectively, for the top 3). None of the contestants went away empty-handed though (there were meal vouchers, dance and fitness classes and magazine subscriptions, to name a few) and some of our audience won prizes in our raffle as well. Congratulations to our winners: Omar and Talal (guitar/comedy duo) in first place, Mohammad Idrei (electric guitar) in second place and ‘poppin’ Chris in third place. Juli, richtete SAE Institute Amman zum ersten Mal den „SAE Got Talent“ Contest aus. Und was für ein Contest es war! Wir hatten Bands, Gitarristen, Breakdancer, einen „Popper“ (Breakdancer) und einen Jongleur! Unsere Jury bestand aus Lee von Play FM, Shauna vom VIVA Magazin und Tony von der Tempo Dance Academy. Es war ein heftiger Wettstreit um den Hauptgewinn, von der Cairo Amman Bank gesponser- tes Geld (JD 500, JD350 und JD 150 für die drei Erstplatzierten). Mit leeren Händen ging aber keiner der Teilnehmer nach Hause (es gab Essensgutscheine, Tanz- und Fitnesskurse, Magazinabos und noch eini- ges mehr), und auch einige Zuschauer gewannen Tombolapreise. Gratulationen gehen an die Gewinner: Omar und Talal (Gitarristen/ Comedy-Duo) Platz 1, Mohammad Idrei (E-Gitarre) Platz 2 und „poppin“ Chris Platz 3. Alle Gewinner wurden von Play FM interviewt.
