064 SAE & SAE Alumni NEWS // European News Tom Pearce lecture at SAE Institute Paris n SAE Institute Paris was honoured to host a lecture by leading producer and engineer Tom Pearce. He shared his years of experience during which he went on tour with Elton John and Eric Clapton, and was in the studio withJimmyPageandChrisRea.Recently,Tomproduced the soundtracks for numerous video games on Xbox and iPhone. This is was extraordinary opportunity to have an insight on the evolution of the audio industry. He recor- ded, mixed and produced a great number of world fa- mous artists, from Stanley Clark, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Jimmy Page and Elton John also Gus Dudgeon to George Martin, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Paul Mc- Cartney, the Who, Gary Moore, Faithless et Culture Beat. Pearce is also known for working on video game soundtracks, for Stre- amline Studios (HoopWorld, Track Addict, Warriors, etc), RumDeeDum (the Princess Arabella series), and also deals with the sound design and licensing of several musical games. n Tom Pearce en conférence à SAE Institute Paris SAE Institute Paris a eut la joie d‘accueillir Tom Pearce en conférence. Pendant toute la journée, il a partagé ses années d‘expériences pendant lesquelles il a eut l‘occasion de partir en tournée avec Elton John ou Eric Clapton, et aussi de ses expériences en studio avec Jimmy Page et Chris Rea. Plus récemment Tom Pearce a aussi conçu le son pour de multiples jeux video sur Xbox et iPhone. Ce fut une occasion unique pour les étudiants de SAE de découvrir les différentes perspec- tives d‘évolution de l‘industrie de l‘audiovisuel. Paris SAE Paris lecture at IRCAM for the ‘Semaine du Son’ n To mark the „Semaine du Son“ 2011 (Sound Week), SAE Paris was proudly invited to attend the lecture re- garding “Sound Spatialisation“ that was held at the IR- CAM (the first sound research centre in the world). Students attending the audio engineering courses had the chance to also attend this amazing forward-thinking lecture. The core of the lecture was to assess the impact of these technologies on the audio industry, with SAE being chosen to represent the educational sector. n SAE Paris en conférence à l’IRCAM pour la ‘Semaine du Son’ A l‘occasion de la Semaine du Son 2011, SAE Paris a été invité à participer à la conférence „Spatialisation so- nore“ qui s‘est tenu à l‘IRCAM (le 1er centre mondial de la recherche sonore) le Vendredi 21 Janvier 2011. Cette journée a accueilli en priorité les élèves des for- mations aux techniques et métiers du son. Le fil d’Ariane a été d’évaluer l’impact de ces technologies en gestation sur l’évolution des métiers du son et de la formation. SAE a été choisi pour représenter le secteur éducatif de cet- te journée. Jean-Philippe Boisson (Manager de SAE Paris) Tom Pearce in SAE Paris’ SSL Studio The ‘Rencontres de la Création Sonore’ at SAE Paris n For the third year running, the RCS (Meet- ings of Sound Creation) took place at SAE Institute. As with the two previous years, the RCS were not aiming to be a public expo, but rather a meeting for audio professionals, with live demonstrations of the latest cutting edge equipment, combined with a programme of lectures and round tables. For people working in the audio industry, each year the RCS offers a unique opportunity to test, discuss and ex- change ideas, with other audio professionals. This year the demos took place in the high end studios of SAE Institute Paris where the latest equipment was presented by the companies and demonstrated in a real- istic situation with musicians. n Les ‘Rencontres de la création sonore’ à SAE Paris Pour la troisième année, les RCS (Rencontres de la Création Sonore) se sont tenus SAE In- stitute Paris. Comme pour les deux éditions précédentes, les RCS affirment leur volonté de ne pas être un salon, mais une convention réunissant les professionnels du son, avec des démonstrations de matériel en situation, associées à un programme de conférences et tables rondes. Dédiées aux professionnels de l‘audiovisuel, les RCS offrent une occasion unique pour tester, discuter, échanger, entre professionnels de l’audio, dans les studios du SAE Institute où le matériel présenté par les sociétés participantes est mis en situation (captation, mixage, diffusion), avec la participation de musiciens. Digico workshop during RCS 2011 Yan Memmi at SAE Institute Paris n SAE Institute Paris was proud to welcome Yan Memmi (engineer and producer who has sold 10,000,000 records to date) for an amazing lecture about his experiences and production techniques.Yan Memmi is an ex-SAE student who has received many awards during his career: 4,000,000 albums sold for Gotta Tell You (Samantha Mumba) – 1,000,000 albums sold for Much Love de (Shola Ama) – 200,000 albums sold for The Sun Don’t Lie de (Marcus Miller) – 600,000 albums sold for Waking up the Neighbours (Bryan Adams) n Yan Memmi en conférence à SAE Paris SAE Institute Paris a été fier de recevoir dans ses locaux Yan Memmi (ingénieur du son et producteur: 10 000 000 d’albums vendus à ce jour) pour une conférence sur ses expériences et ses pratiques professionnels.
