OurAudio Engineering students will receive first hand experience in the field of live sound mixing throughout their studies. “SAE has a continued commitment to our students to receive the best relevant education not just within our state-of-the-art facilities but also within the real world environment, working on real projects. Live sound Steadicam team-up with Oxford film students n SAE Institute Oxford have teamed up with Tiffen International Ltd, manufacturers of the Steadicam world famous camera stabilizing systems. Now, students studying Digital Film Making at SAE Oxford have the benefit of learning how to use the great new Steadicam Scout system adding more adventurous and smoother shots to their films. Steadicam’s expert technical staff spent three days at the Oxford campus teaching students about the endless creative possibilities that can be achieved by using this industry standard system. “Being a Steadicam operator is not just about training, it’s an art skill which just like learning the piano requires practice, dedication and has an ele- ment of individual skill and style. The more practice the more varied the level of shots and sequences the operator can perform. Having a Steadi- cam on site is definitely an advantage for SAE students to get that level of practice.” commented Steadicam’s Robin Thwaites. n Steadicam und Oxforder Filmstudenten bilden Team SAE Institute Oxford hat sich mit Tiffen Inter- national Ltd, Hersteller des weltberühmten Kamerastabilisierungssystems Steadicam, zusammengetan. Die Digital Filmmaking Studenten haben nun den Vorteil, den Umgang mit dem großartigen neuen Steadicam Scout System erlernen und so abenteuerlichere und sanftere Kameraein- stellungen für ihre Filme drehen zu können. Die Steadicam-Technikexperten verbrachten drei Tage auf dem Campus in Oxford, um den Studenten die endlosen kreativen Möglichkeiten, die dieses Indutriestan- dardsystem bietet, beizubringen. „Als Steadicam Operator muss man trainieren, es ist eine Kunstfertigkeit, die, so wie auch das Erlernen des Klavierspiels, Übung und Hingabe verlangt und ein Element von eigenem Style hat. Je mehr Übung, desto größer ist die Palette an Kameraeinstellungen, die ein Operator liefern kann. Eine Steadicam vor Ort zu haben ist definitiv gut für die SAE-Stu- denten, um dieses Übungsniveau zu erreichen.“ Robin Thwaites, Stea- dicam Grammy award winning David Hentschel at SAE Oxford n It is perhaps the aspiration of every record- ing engineer to win a Grammy Award. So what better way to encourage those very aspira- tions in our audio engineering students than by bringing legendary producer and multiple Grammy nominated award winning David Hentschel to give a very special and intimate guest lecture. David’s career started at London’s Trident stu- dios with his first day at work spent making tea for David Bowie’s Space Oddity session in July 1969. Rapidly climbing the ranks he formed part of a team of producers and engineers that shaped the sound of contemporary music for decades. Earning his first Grammy nomination for work done on the landmark Elton John album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. David has worked with Genesis, Ringo Starr, Frank Zappa, Sir Paul McCartney, Mike Oldfield, P.O.D., LL Cool J, Missy Elliott, and many many more. A truly inspiring individual. Was könnte also besser sein als dieses Streben in unseren Audio-Studenten durch eine sehr spezielle und intime Gastvorlesung des legen- dären, mehrfach Grammy-nominierten und -ausgezeichneten Produzenten David Hent- schel zu bestärken. Davids Karriere begann in den legendären Trident Studios in London, wo er seinen ersten Arbeitstag im Juli 1969 damit verbrachte Tee für David Bowie‘s Space Oddity Session zu kochen. Nach seinem schnellem Aufstieg wurde er Teil einer Gruppe von Produzenten und Engineers, die den Sound zeitgenös- sischer Musik für Jahrzehnte prägte.
