052 SAE & SAE Alumni NEWS // European News Glasgow SAE Institute Glasgow at RockNess Music Festival n SAE Institute Glasgow dispatched our out- door events crew to the Scottish Highlands for the RockNess Festival. The event, which took place on the shores of Loch Ness had many big names on the schedule, including Friday headliners Kasabian, Saturday’s headliners Chemical Brothers and the final act of the weekend to perform on the main stage, Paulo Nutini. Degree lecturer Douglas Barr and Film- making lecturer Dan Ashman accompanied 5 of our degree students to the festival to capture the atmosphere and film a range of footage for the festival’s online content. Much of the work the staff and students became involved with was to film, edit and deliver a host of backstage interviews with artists like We Are Scientists, Afghan Raiders, Frightened Rabbit and Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank. Das Event, das am Wochenende vom 10. bis 12. Juni an den Ufern von Loch Ness stattfand, hatte viele große Namen zu bieten. Mit dabei die Headliner Kasabian (Frei- tag), Chemical Brothers (Samstag) und Paulo Nutini, der als letzter Act des Wochenendes auf der Hauptbühne auftrat. Degree-Dozent Douglas Barr und Filmma- king-Dozent Dan Ashman begleiteten 5 unse- rer Degree-Studenten zum Festival, um dieAtmosphäre einzufangen und Material für die Onlinepräsenz des Festivals zu filmen. Ein Großteil der Arbeit, in die Staff und Studenten involviert waren, bedeutete Filmen, Schneiden und Abliefern von Backstage-Interviews mit Künstlern wie We Are Scientists, Afghan Raiders, Frightened Rabbit und Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank. Videos zum Event unter: www.youtube.com/user/SAEInstituteGlasgow Playmusic Pickup Unsigned Awards 2011 n And the winner is … Congratulations to SAE Audio Degree student Ophir Shamir who won the Playmusic magazine 2011 Unsigned Band Awards for best pro- duced band. Ophir recorded and mixed the winning demo called “Tin Man” by unsigned Scottish band Turn- ing Plates in our Neve VR studio. The band were very impressed with Ophir and his creative input towards the final sound of the track was much appreciated. Lis- ten to it at www.facebook.com/turningplates n Playmusic Pickup Unsigned Awards 2011 And the winner is … Unsere Gratulation geht an den SAE Audio Degree Studenten Ophir Shamir, der den Playmu- sic-Magazin Award für die best-produzierte Band ohne Plattendeal 2011 gewann. Ophir recordete und mixte das Gewinner-Demo „Tin Man“ der schottischen Band Turning Plates in unserem Neve VR Studio. Die Band war von Ophir sehr beeindruckt und sein kreativer Beitrag zum finalen Sound des Liedes wurde sehr geschätzt. Zu hören ist er auf: www.facebook.com/turningplates From SAE Institute to the Opera House n Congratulations to degree graduate Steven Coyle who has already secured a position as sound technician with the Royal Opera House in Oman. During a conversation with lecturer Douglas Barr, Steven stated the he was really impressed on how far the SAE Institute name got him so soon after leaving us. We wish him the best of luck in the new job. n Von SAE Institute zum Opernhaus Gratulationen gehen an den Degree-Absol- venten Steven Coyle, der sich bereits eine Position als Tontechniker im Royal Opera House im Oman sichern konnte. Während ei- nes Gesprächs mit Dozent Douglas Barr sag- te Steven, dass er wirklich beeindruckt sei wie weit ihn der Name SAE Institute schon kurz nachdem er uns verlassen hatte gebracht hät- te. Wir wünschen ihm alles Gute für den neu- en Job. 1. This bundle comprises Cubase LE6 and Wave Lab LE7 and is suitable for both Mac and PC. Both versions can be upgraded to full versions at the SAE Student Store at a particularly affordable price.
