SAE & SAE Alumni NEWS // European News 051 Losing Unconsciousness at Action on Film Festival n SAE London is proud to announce the selection of ‘Losing Unconsciousness’, a short film by SAE London graduate Tim Hyde, for the 7th Action on Film Festival. The international film festival which takes place in Pasadena, California was named ‘One of the Top 25 Festivals Worth the Fees’ by MovieMaker Magazine in 2009 and gives film makers, writers and producers the opportunity to showcase their films, short films, documentaries and other projects. Part of this year’s festival was the psycho-drama ‘Losing Unconsciousness’, written, produced and ­directed by recent graduate Tim Hyde; a project that exhibits not only our students’ talents, but also the successful collaboration of SAE London audio and film students and staff members, including Daria Fissoun (film), Michael Wilson (audio), Andrea Lacopini (audio) and Alex Piglowski (animation). n „Losing Unconsciousness“ auf Action on Film Festival SAE Institute London ist stolz darauf, dass Losing Unconsciousness, ein Kurzfilm von SAE London Absolvent Tim Hyde, für das 7. Action on Film Festival ausgewählt wurde. Das internationale Filmfestival in Pasadena, Kalifornien, wurde 2009 vom MovieMaker Magazine als ’eines der Top 25 Festivals, die den Eintrittspreis wert sind‘ bezeichnet und gibt Filmemachern, Autoren und Produzenten die Möglichkeit, ihre Filme, Kurzfilme, Dokumentationen und andere Projekte zu zeigen. Teil des diesjährigen Festivals war das Psychodrama ‚Loosing Unconsciousness‘ (‚Die Ohnmacht verlie- ren‘), geschrieben, produziert und unter der Regie von Absolvent Tim Hyde; ein Projekt, das nicht nur das Talent unserer Studenten zeigt, sondern auch die erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit von Audio- und Filmstu- denten sowie Mitarbeitern, unter anderem Daria Fissoun (Film), Michael Wilson (Audio), Andrea Iacopini (Audio) and Alex Piglowski (Animation). Global Game Jam – the largest ever n Over 50 enthusiastic gamers set up camp at SAE Institute / Qantm College in London to take part in this year’s Global Games Jam 2011 – the single largest game jam ever, running over 48 continuous hours. All partici- pants came to SAE London and joined the global mara- thon to create and develop an original game within the 48 hour time limit based on this year’s theme: “Extinc- tion”. You can learn more about the results and this year’s winners at http://globalgamejam.org The event caught the eye of BBC Radio 4, who covered the sleep-deprived mayhem for the whole weekend. n Global Game Jam – das größte aller Zeiten Über 50 enthusiastische Gamer richteten sich bei SAE Institute / Qantm College in London ein, um am Global Game Jam 2011 – dem größten und mit 48 Stunden längsten aller Zeiten – teilzunehmen. Alle Teil- nehmer kamen ins SAE Institute London, um als Teil des globalen Marathons innerhalb der vorgegebenen 48 Stunden ein Spiel zum diesjährigen Thema „Extinction“ zu entwerfen und zu entwickeln. BBC Radio 4 berichtete das ganze Wochenende vom schlafraubenden Event-„Schlachtfeld“.
