Dear Readers, People always say “it‘s a small world”. It may seem this way to us, because modern communication methods are enabling high-speed exchanges. But it‘s still there, the big, wide world. Two SAE Alumni are out there rediscover- ing it for themselves and for us. The “Sailing Conductors” ship‘s cook Hannes and Captain Ben are sailing from Syd- ney to Berlin picking up musical experiences at their stops on the way. Their musical circumnavigation is described on page 16. The SAE world is also growing: the new location in Bo- chum, in the middle of Germany‘s most populated region will ensure that the established SAE education will make the Ruhr area into a hot bed of media professionals. First impressions of the starting phase can be found on page 6. Preparations for the SAE Alumni Convention VII on 13th and 14th October at the SAE Berlin campus are in full swing: more seminars, a new marquee concept and more exhibitors from the film industry promise a media spec- tacle, the likes of which have never been seen before. Thanks to the support of SAE Institute and our partner firms, the SAE Alumni Association is able to offer free ba- sic membership, as of September. All SAE Alumni who successfully graduate will have the chance to enjoy the advantages of belonging to our strong community. The de- tails can be found on page 10. I hope you enjoy reading the new SAE magazine, which has also undergone some changes; the campus news sec- tions are now all both in their respective original language, and in English. It has been a great adventure for the creators complying with the wish from the community. For both the magazine and the convention, some of the improvements have come about as a direct result of your input. We would like to thank you for your feedback, which shows us how alive our Association is and how important it is to you. Enjoy reading! Yours, pan Liebe Leserinnen, liebe Leser, die Welt sei klein, hört man immer wieder. Das mag uns so vorkommen, weil uns die modernen Kommunikations- mittel rasend schnellen Austausch ermöglichen. Es gibt sie aber noch, die große Welt. Zwei SAE-Alumni sind gerade dabei, diese für sich und uns neu zu entdecken. Als „Sai- ling Conductors“ segeln Smutje Hannes und Captain Ben von Sydney nach Berlin und nehmen von ihren Stationen musikalische Impressionen mit. Ab Seite 16 stellen wir euch unsere musikalischen Weltumsegler vor. Auch die SAE-Welt wächst weiter: Der neue Standort Bochum inmitten Deutschlands bevölkerungsreichster Region sorgt mit der fundierten SAE-Ausbildung dafür, den Ruhrpott zum brodelnden Kessel der Medienschaffen- den zu machen. Erste Eindrücke der Startphase geben wir auf Seite 6. Die Vorbereitungen für die SAE-Alumni-Convention VII am 13./14. Oktober auf dem SAE-Campus Berlin laufen auf Hochtouren: Mehr Seminare, ein neues Zeltkonzept, weitere Aussteller aus dem Film-Bereich versprechen ein Medienspektakel wie es noch keines zuvor gegeben hat. Ab Seite 22 erfahrt ihr die Details. Meldet euch gleich on- line an und lasst uns gemeinsam ausgelassen den Höhe- punkt des SAE-Jahres feiern! Dank der Unterstützung der SAE Institute und unserer Partner-Firmen ist es der SAE-Alumni-Association ab September möglich, die Basis-Mitgliedschaften beitrags- frei zu stellen.
