One year older and the SAE Alumni Convention keeps growing.  2.700 visitors came to the SAE campus in Berlin on October 14th and 15th, and in its’ sixth year the event once again proved to be an inspiration to media professionals.  Despite the extraordinary increase of exhibitors during last years’ convention, still more convention partners presented their technologies in 2010. The products of 80 exhibitors could be experienced at 75 booths, with “experience” being the key word for this convention. The visitors had the opportunity to investigate and explore state of the art equipment up close and personal, however they desired. The beautiful weather this year was not the only reason why there was no need to fight through annoying crowds at the facilities of the SAE in Berlin. The expansion of the convention floor and the use of exhibition tents was well worth it. The 18 demo suites offered thorough views into modern technology and its’ professional handling. Aside from many new items and exciting presentations, the world premiere of the Neve Classic Series 75 was surely one of the highlights of the two days.Despite all of this technology, there was still room for innovative ideas. Over 60 hours of seminars offered something for the media representatives in the areas of audio, film, web, digital journalism and gaming. 62 lectures fascinated students, SAE alumni and many media professionals alike. It is not easy to pick names out of the packed program, but the lectures of Andreas Kieling (animal cinematographer, photographer, adventurer), Stuart Epps (producer), Carlo Blatz (power flasher), and Hans-Martin Buff (sound engineer) were particularly inspiring for the audience. The seminars about Journalistic Principles and Digital Journalism by Manuel Lemke (Die Neue 107.7) and Matthias J- Lange (redaction42) had the special focus of introducing and promoting the new course “Digital Journalism” which was recently created in September. The “secret” highlight for many was surely the celebratory presentation of the SAE Alumni Awards 2010 and the party afterwards. 1000 liters free beer flowed and the Bentleys all the way from Australia, Dixie from England, the Emil Bulls from Munich, and the Star-DJ Julian Smith rocked the Fritz Club am Postbahnhof. These two days in October have become a staple in the media industry. In keeping with this tradition the SAE Alumni Association will again invite all media professionals for the 7th SAE Alumni on October 13th & 14th.
